iMac Purchace Decisions

Posted in Just Me, Technology, The Mac with tags , , on May 2, 2011 by MacMouth

I have major considerations in a new purchase of a new iMac.
i5 i3
RAM 4 or 8?
21 or 27″
Love the 21 with the specs of the 27 SSD and Hard drive together.
Then it’s also due for a revision. After the new MacBook Pros last month, you’d expect that the iMac will get Thunderbolt the latest data port that will be “it” for years to come I need to know that it will have longevity.
The configuration?  according to the rumor, Wednesday morning, will tell what configurations are available.

Google Chrome and 1Password.

I am waiting for this to become available to us all. Safari for the mac is getting a little irritating right now and Chrome for Mac is so much faster

New iPhone Case

Posted in Just Me on November 27, 2010 by MacMouth

I have had the rubberised case for a while even a case from a mate (cheap knock off fron China) and the all are the kind that make you flick or click at it while you are carrying it. As well as not fitting into the belt pouch I have (yes I know.. but its the best thing that doesn’t bend the ear phones plug at the top when I am riding my Motorbike (broken 3 sets of expensive ones in 2 years)).

Today, after my better half found one for the iphone 3G I bought the iFrogz Lux Original case.

Protection – tick

Good looks – tick

easy to put on – tick

slide nicely into the pouch – double tick!!!!

Inspiration for kids coaches

Posted in Just Me with tags on November 16, 2010 by MacMouth

Recently on the radio show “The Locker Room” on Radio Zinc, we interviewed Scott Hill. In the National Rugby League he was part of the first Melbourne Storm Premiership as well as NSW representative  & he represented his country as a Kangaroo

You’d think if he co-authored a book, it would be about “My career”, but no, his concept is based on helping  parents & teachers lead & nurture our children to in sport.

I have been involved with my kids & basketball for man years, and I have coached them, their friends & others kids. A guide like this would have been invaluable. And maybe too if you lead children in other directions too, think might help.

Please listen and enjoy the author of ”Sports Wisdom Revealed” Scott Hill

Welcome to my world

At school, many many many years ago, the teacher said “Class, here is a quote from parents of children at school” Then asking us to tell him what year it from.

The quote, “kids of today are disrespectful, they are too noisy, have a bad attitude to school, to teachers & to their parents”..  The year we guessed at 5-10 years before us? (and that giving us room to say “we didn’t start it”.  The year 5AD, from Rome.

The lesson learned… Things never change.

Now to our lesson for today, a YouTube Video.

Yup, still every day, only thing is that now we can change a single element a little easier.

Change your Password

Posted in Just Me, Technology on October 3, 2010 by MacMouth

I am, as I guess you are, one of the millions who’s workplace has an IT dept that asks you to do this regularly, some 90 days some now 60 days.
The most recent upgrades to the password law enforcers, letters & numbers. OMG how many do I have can I remember them all. There are some really good software solutions, but these apps are only on the home computer, when you try to enter the password for the computer at work, its so secure you cant remember it & besides all that “it’s at home”. Then you have the bright idea to install it at work too so it can sync to the cloud & do the job for you. (If your allowed to on the work PC) Love XMarks. A gotta get if you can.
What ever you do take care with them and keep you passwords safe and different as possible, but read this article from ZDNet http://blogs.zdnet.com/security/?p=5325&tag=nl.e540
Remember, if all else fails, write it in your phone.

At the new location

MacMouth MediaThe move is finally over. Not all is here, but I do have most.
I have had a maze of problems to overcome in the last 2 weeks. WordPress is a strange beast when combined with a new server, then starting off with not being able to export the WordPress file out of the old site (critical). All messed up any way you look at it.
God bless the RSS feed, that gave me the last posts, to be current, but not the older ones. Also, for the first time I realize that I can get to the old posts, on the new site via the old one.
I think I’ll salvage a few but most can be part of something else I did years ago.
So MacMouth Media is now on macmouth.com and the blog, here, is macmouth.net.
